Callcard Information
In the late 1990s Eircell released their "Ready to Go" mobile plan. This plan did not require a contract to sign up to, and it is one of the earliest examples of prepay mobile phone accessibility in Ireland.
To use a Ready to Go phone, it was required to top up the phone by purchasing seperately a Eircell Go Card. Go Card's were sold in denominations of: £10, £20 and later on £5 variations were available. Top up cards could be purchased in most newsagents around the country.
It was required to dial a special freephone number, and key in a unique 13 digit number which if found valid would activate the user's credit.
