Nick Rankin, Owner of irishcallcards.net, has passed away

#1 Philip Kavanagh (Last updated )

Hi there, my name is Philip. I was a good friend of Nick's over the past 18 years.

I am deeply saddened to inform you all that on August 7 2024, Nick passed away suddenly while going for an evening walk.

As users of this website and beerglasscollection.net will know, Nick was incredibly passionate about his collections, and his meticulous attention to detail is what allowed websites like these to exist.

He was truely delighted with the community interactions here, and took immense pride in the collection he built.

At the moment, I am unsure what will happen to Nick's websites, but I will try work with his family and web hosts to keep these alive in his name.

I will update again, once I have more information, but this process could be somewhat lengthy.

Thank you for being part of Nick's life through your involvement in this community and please feel free to continue using this website.

Thanks,

Philip (Friend of Nick)

I am absolutely gobsmacked at just hearing the news, I have known Nick for over 20 years, his site catalog was created from my original site I created as a teenager when I struggled to get information.

His coding genius brought about two amazing sites that he was so passionate about, and his level of detail was amazing. He will be sorely missed and I am sorry I didn't know sooner ..

RIP Nick and thank you for everything you have done for the collectors out there that you have helped with not only your site but with your many swaps and detective skills in finding stuff to help fill out collections.
