Eircell Ready to Go 087 Go Card
In the late 1990s Eircell released their "Ready to Go" mobile plan. This plan did not require a contract to sign up to, and it is one of the earliest examples of prepay mobile phone accessibility in Ireland.
To use a Ready to Go phone, it was required to top up the phone by purchasing seperately a Eircell Go Card. Go Card's were sold in denominations of: £10, £20 and later on £5 variations were available. Top up cards could be purchased in most newsagents around the country. With the introduction of the Euro currency in 2002, this changeover could be observed with the dual-currency printing on the Go Cards.
It was required to dial a special freephone number (1741), and key in a unique 13 digit number which if found valid would activate the user's credit.
