Test Cards

Welcome to the Test, Maintenance and Dummy Callcards section. Here you will find:

• Demonstration cards: These cards were supplied to Telecom eireann by various manufacturers and were used to test various phonecard chipsets with the Telecom eireann cardphone hardware.
• Dummy cards: These cards were printed however a chip was never installed. Little is known about why Dummy cards exist. A common theory is that cards were printed in a separate factory to where the chips were installed. A variety of demonstration cards exsist such as with a hole removed or with no hole removed.
• Test cards: As the name suggests these cards were produced to test the cardphone hardware. These cards differ from Demonstration cards as they will be encoded with a chipset known to work with a Telecom eireann cardphone. They were used for general maintenance tasks.
