Global Chipcard Alliance (Telecom Eireann)

The Global Chipcard Alliance was founded in October 1996 by US West Communications, PTT Telecom Netherlands/Unisource, GTE, Bell Canada and Telekom Malaysia. The GCA was committed to worldwide inter

operable networks, increased chip card functionality and widespread installation of terminal systems.
The GCA issued a special 10 card circular folder, with phonecards from all participating membership countries, including one from Ireland (pictured above).
