Eircom changed from “Units” to Currency for Callcards in the year 2001. This meant that cards were sold with a value such as €4 rather than 20 Units. Eircom brought out the "Simply Talk" line of Callcards which were the first to use the Units to Currency transition. Interestingly some of the Simply Talk cards were overprints of earlier Callcards, which were printed with the Simply Talk design and re-sold.

A World Cup 2002 set was issued using the currency value over units; this set also had a folder (sold separately) to store all 26 cards. Shortly after in 2003 two Special Olympic CallCards were issued, a €4 and a €7 one.
